It is important that all students are working on the same level when it comes to materials. Cheap materials will provide a less than desirable results.

Because of this in the watercolor and oils class brushes will be provided for your use or you can purchase yours. But keep in mind quality of the brush, paper and paint will make a difference in the end result


BRUSHES specifically for watercolor to hold the necessary water and paint. They should retain their shape when wet. There are many good synthetic fiber brushes on the market. Golden Fleece brushes have quality and are reasonably price. THES BRUSHES CAN NEVER BE USED FOR ANY OTHER PAINT ONLY WATERCOLOR OR YOU WILL RUIN THEM. Get seperate brushed for oil or acylic painting and the watercolor brushes will last you for many years..

There varying prices of paint made by the same companies. The Student grade will be just fine to start they are less expensive, but they have a lot less pigment there fore will no go as far as a professional grade. Windor Newton has both grade and is an excellent brand.

If you do not have the paint you can purchase at time of class or pay an additional fee to use my supply

Other supplies you will need

 Watercolor Palette: These are usually white plastic with a lid and contain
wells for paints as well as wells to mix colors. The price for a good palette
will be between $7 and $20.  When you put your
paints on your palette for the first time, arrange them according to color and
temperature and use a black marking pen to write the name of the paint by each
well until you are familiar with your palette.
* Natural sponge
* Water containers, yogurt or cottage cheese carton, cut off soda bottle.
* Paper Towels
* Masking tape and or bulldog clips to secure paper to support
* Gatorboard, masonite, etc. for a board to support your paper ( you will have one in class) 
* A small hair dryer
* A large tote bag to keep your supplies together
